Large size Swoon Denver backpack in quilting cotton and "whisper vinyl" from JoAnn Halloween countdown from Jennifer Maker blog

Pokemon Halloween costumes

Sean wanted to be Ash, specifically from the Kalos seasons of the anime. Shirt is a modified Zippy Jacket from Blank Slate Patterns. I added white HTV to a hat with a mini iron, and I bought solid red and black fingerless gloves from Amazon and chopped and reassembled them. He won 2nd place in the kids cosplay contest at the library comic- con! Kids raglan in Knitorious "marvelous evolutions" panel and print. I absolutely love this print! Mew as Spider Gwen is so cute! Umbreon version of the Eeveelution hooded shrug free pattern from Choly Knight. http://www.cholyknight.com/2017/10/06/eevee-hooded-shrug She has free coin purse and "blob" plush patterns for all the Eeveelutions too!

Ikea pillowcases with designs from Cricut Design Space done in Siser Easyweed HTV.

Spooky sews- Swoon Ethel

Image
My first structured bag, the Swoon Ethel (another free pattern). After a couple of years of sewing with stretch knits, I'm revisiting wovens and I've gotten a lot better, lol. This bag uses sew-in foam interfacing for the structure. Zombie pin up fabric from JoAnn. I've started buying whole bolts of SF101 interfacing (the light woven interfacing used for most bags) whenever it goes on sale or I have a great coupon. It's very narrow so you use tons of yards of it in each bag.

Late summer sews- another Halla Stardust, Halla Bliss

Image
Short sleeved Halla Stardust in RockerByeDestash cotton/Lycra zombie and brain prints. The sleeveless version fit really well through the shoulders but this has some extra width it seems. Probably something weird I did while doing the full bust adjustment. Size 18 with FBA, shirt length with pocket and color blocking. Halla Bliss dress in Zenith & Quasar diatom print athletic brushed poly. Contrast bands are heavy heathered ABP. I should have sized up in the waist and arm bands using the heavy ABP, but the yoke sits really nicely using it. Size 18 with gathered bodice and ruched waistband options. I think this is a half circle skirt?

Summer Sews: Halla Stardusts, Rad Undies

Image
Star insert kids Halla Stardust. Some small imperfections, but not quite as tricky as I thought it was going to be. Chibi Marvel cotton/Lycra and Cricut brand Marvel heat transfer vinyl from Joann Kids Halla Stardust with Luna inset (add on available separate from main pattern). Lego Batman panel from MK Designs. Adult colorblocked Halla Stardust from the recent sewalong in the Halla group. Print from MK Designs. I finally learned how to do a real FBA.  Lucky Lingerie bra and Rad Panel Undies by Rad Patterns. Bra is reversible (see below). Cotton/lycra Star Wars prints from JoAnn.

Pokemon birthday crafts

CKC Gabriel's Reversible Shorts in quilting cotton from JoAnn, Zapdos/Team Instinct t-shirt in heat transfer vinyl Gathered skirt in JoAnn quilting cotton with knit waistband and lace trim, Gastly/Haunter/Gengar t-shirt in black glitter HTV Huge Snorlax plushie in minky-like fabric and fleece from JoAnn. Pattern and tutorial from Sew&Tell on YouTube. Kid joggers in some really soft plush/double minky type fabric with CL bands. Cupcake toppers cut on Cricut Pikachu and Eevee truffles inspired by MiscellaneousMao on Instagram. I underestimated how difficult these would be! I'm not used to working in this medium, lol. Birthday card made on Cricut

Rad Aphrodite dress

Image
Rad Patterns Aphrodite dress with "more coverage" option. Solid is a really soft crepe jersey. It is very thin so I made the bodice fully lined. Hacked to attach half circle skirt. Floral skirt is DBP. I'm really excited to try more Rad patterns b/c many other pattern companies have disappointed me by failing at inclusivity (in moderating their Facebook groups and in their choices of models, etc.)

Spring Sews

Image
Summer Festival Sling from Swoon Patterns (free). Cottons from JoAnn and a whole lot of SF101 interfacing. Leggings fabric from Affordable Fabrics And More. Color blocked hacked raglan  Child Halla Stardust in MK Designs Lego Batman fabric (cotton Lycra). Leggings in MK Designs cotton Lycra. Necklace made from acrylic skins left over from pouring on canvas.

SFRs, Power Bra, Endurance Bra attempt 2

Image
Raglan with ruched funnel collar and thumbhole cuffs from add-on pack. Hacked with color block tutorial from Hey June blog. The tutorial seems to be for a shorter length top, so I didn't follow it exactly. I used leftovers from Sly Fox Fabrics Baby French Terry. This was a test of the color blocking before cutting into some custom Cotton Lycra, but I really love the way it turned out. Greenstyle Creation's new Power Bra from the sew-along. Fabric Fairy supplex (magenta), JoAnn Superflex (black), and Fabric Fairy swim lining and powernet. I had to make some changes to add more support while I was making it.  38F size, drew my own "more coverage" line, but back cut down to 36 size. Two layers of Superflex in the back. Originally I used silicone backed strapping that came in the kit for the straps, (strappy cross back option) but it wasn't supportive enough and white threads of elastic started escaping from the seam. I redid the straps with 3/4" no rol

Greenstyle Creations Fit Capsule Challenge 2019

Image
Fit(ness) capsule challenge in the Greenstyle Creations Facebook group just ended. We had 1 month to sew at least 3 coordinating pieces of workout clothing. Super G capris with color blocking from Strides pattern, Solo tank, and Power Sports Bra (bra made before official start of challenge). Galaxy print swim fabric and purple burnout jersey from Cali Fabrics. Supplex from Fabric Fairy. This is a lighter weight very stretchy Supplex. The Solo tank came out perfectly...this was my first time doing binding. My coverstich machine handled the Solo binding and the decorative stitching on the capris really well. More Strides/Super G mash up capris (this time with pockets), petal back Xpress tank, No Show Thong. Supplex from Phee. This is a much heavier Supplex. YSS print accent from Zenith & Quasar. Circular knit from Phee for tank and thong. This is a light weight circular knit and I had some problems hemming it. Like, a lot of problems. My coverstich machine hated goin

Valentine's day crafts 2019

Image
I got some more pillows and cases from IKEA since making the cases myself isn't really that satisfying, lol. Decorated with glitter and regular HTV. I can't remember if this is a Cricut Design Space design or from loveSVG.com Alpaca design from loveSVG.com. This turned out so cute! I got a Cricut Easy Press 2 for Christmas and it's been great. I'd been using a household iron, and this is bigger and heats more evenly. The instructions call for a long time with less pressure (with Cricut brand HTV), but I've been using Siser's recommendation of following their instructions for regular heat presses (perhaps rounding up on the temp). Cookies and paper boxes. This is the "glitzy' glitter cardstock from Michael's that doesn't shed glitter and leave a mess on the Cricut mat. I modified the existing Christmas/Halloween treat box designs to have Valentine's images on top. The file is here-

2019 first sews- Bree/Lexi/Stella, Mario JRR, and new coverstich

Image
Bree from Made for Mermaids in leftover lace from Surge and stash cotton/Lycra. For some reason I had a few hiccups with this project, probably due to sloppiness or misremembering instructions, lol. Hemmed with my brand new coverstich machine! (Juki 1500) I need to decide whether to understitch the lining to get it to sit a little better around the neck and arms. Lexi Loungers from Made for Mermaids in black baby French Terry from Sly Fox. These are the most comfortable pants ever. I graded out for the calves and the pattern pieces looked ridiculous, but it worked out great. V back Stella from Made for Mermaids in pink baby French Terry from Sly Fox. The back view in the photo looks kind of wonky but it looks great in person. I think it will look even better in a drapier sweater knit. Patterns for Pirates Jolly Roger Raglan in Yoshi's Island panel and coordinate from MK Designs. I have a bunch of their fabric in my stash but I think this is my first time using i
