Odds & Ends

Here's a bunch of stuff that's been in my head that I want to share.

My college roommate Ash (currently working on an MFA at Wichita State) needs input for an art project dealing with gender and sexuality issues. The project's blog has a list of words related to these issues, and you can submit whatever visual or verbal responses you want. Even a short phrase or sentence will help!

Last weekend was the SFSI spring social. I won the award for "Lewdest Dessert." Pics are here.

Also last weekend, we saw a bunch of films at Cinequest. It's over now, but at least one of the films is worth keeping an eye out for at other festivals. Karl Rove, I Love You is a must-see. How could you go wrong with a title like that? It's a fake documentary about the actor Dan Butler and his plans to play Rove in a one-man show.

Garfield Minus Garfield
"Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life?"

That's quite the cupcake. Hope it tasted OK!

The cupcakes used angel food cake mix from Whole Foods that I had sitting around in the cupboard. You still need a pretty heavy duty mixer to whip the egg white powder before adding the flour/sugar mix, but it saves some time. I also have a weak spot for off-the-shelf strawberry frosting in a can.
