Cavatappi Has Been Found!

At Cosentino's in Campbell. What I saw of the store was awesome (esp. the bakery). I'll have to go back sometime when it's not the day before Easter.

Help Me Find Cavatappi!

Image
It looks like this. Where can I find cavatappi in the South Bay or San Francisco?  All the shops near my house have a pathetic selection of pasta!  Whole Foods doesn't even have ziti.  Lunardi's is a little better, but still no cavatappi!  I know I used to eat it all the time, but I can't remember where.  Maybe at the Baylor dorm?  Maybe a restraunt? Maybe I cooked a bunch of it in Austin once? I NEED cavatappi!

Handspun BFL Sock

Image
Handspun BFL Sock , originally uploaded by Buxtrosion . Heel turned for the last time! I realized I needed to add some increases between the toe and gusset increases for the best fit, and it took me a couple of tries to make the foot long enough. Now it could stand to be shorter, but I like my socks loose and comfy. I made a lot of progress on the cuff last night after I took this picture. I'll post more technical details and resources I used when it's all finished. Ravelry page here . History of this yarn here , here , and here .

Merino/Bamboo Handspun from Fiber Fiend Roving

Image
Handspun Yarn and Swatch , originally uploaded by Buxtrosion . Just got around to photographing the chained 3-ply yarn I plied at Mary 's spin-in . ( Fiber Fiend roving in Mars colorway) I love the way everything turned out, and the roving was really easy to spin. Merino/silk or merino/bamboo blends are my absolute favorite. Silent Meows!

Yum Yum actually does this when she's really blissed out. Now we just have to work on silencing the other 999 meows per 1000.

Handspun BFL Sock

Image
Handspun BFL Sock , originally uploaded by Buxtrosion . My first toe-up sock. I've since turned the heel for the 3rd time, and may soon be ripping it out for the 3rd time. I think I need to add some more increases in the middle of the foot. The stitches on the instep still look a little stretched out. This fabric seems to have much less tolerance for being stretched and still looking nice than normal socks. More info on techniques and resources after I actually get it worked out.

Odds & Ends

Here's a bunch of stuff that's been in my head that I want to share. My college roommate Ash (currently working on an MFA at Wichita State) needs input for an art project dealing with gender and sexuality issues. The project's blog has a list of words related to these issues, and you can submit whatever visual or verbal responses you want. Even a short phrase or sentence will help! New Knitty is out. With article on grading your knitting patterns for multiple sizes. Last weekend was the SFSI spring social. I won the award for "Lewdest Dessert." Pics are here . Also last weekend, we saw a bunch of films at Cinequest . It's over now, but at least one of the films is worth keeping an eye out for at other festivals. Karl Rove, I Love You is a must-see. How could you go wrong with a title like that? It's a fake documentary about the actor Dan Butler and his plans to play Rove in a one-man show. Top 10 Rap Songs White People Love With videos! Funny
